The 2026 NPLWA Men’s season is going to be another exciting competition, with a number of clubs bringing in some exciting imports. We will also have a new face among the 12 teams with Dianella White Eagles gaining promotion after taking out the Division One title last season. But Bayswater City will be the team to beat this season, and looking to go back-to-back, this after a stellar 2025, where they secured the title, the Top Four finals and performing well in the inaugural Australian Championship. 2024 champions Olympic Kingsway will no doubt push them all the way, while Perth Azzurri, who have added some exciting players, will be looking to improve after two disappointing seasons. Cup winners Striling Macedonia will also be contention, but we know any team can beat another on their day. Also, with new coaches at Armadale, Balcatta Etna and Sorrento, all three will look to impress, but we all know it is going to another tight season. Footballwa.net takes a close look at the twelve clubs – in alphabetic order on how their 2026 season will pan out.
ARMADALE

Assistant Coaches: Pete Taylor
Player Coaches: Graham Tough and Alfie Brincat
State Championships: None
State Cups: 1 (2018)
2025 League: 8th
2025 Cup – Fourth Round – lost 2-5 to Olympic Kingsway (A)

Goal Conceded: 51
Top Goalscorer: Pieter Jacobsz 16
2026 Night Series – 4th in Group A
ARMADALE fell away last season to finish in eighth position, and with coach Alun Vernals leaving the club they have turned to former Mandurah City coach John Baird this season. The Scotsman did a great job at Mandurah, just missing out on the play offs on three occasions in his tenure. He’s not rested on his laurels at Alfred Skeet Reserve, and has brought in over 16 players for the new season, including Leigh Griffiths, Craig Barker, Alfie Brincat and Cameron and Kye Murray, to name a few as they look to press for a top four finish, for the first time since they were promoted in 2004. The loss of back-to-back Golden Boot winner Pieter Jacobsz is a huge blow, but with the signing of former Celtic striker Griffiths, they have a talented replacement, and with their loyal supporters behind them, they will be looking for a big improvement in 2026.
“We’re excited about the challenge of the 2026 season. With a largely new squad, the focus has been on building strong foundations, cohesion, and competitiveness. Pre-season has been positive, and we’re looking forward to seeing how the group continues to grow as the season progresses.” - Armadale Coach John Baird
Players In: Alfie Brincat, David Keenan, Jai Rowling, Cameron Murray, Lydon Hogkriss, Emerson, Craig Barker Alex de Rocha, Luke Desmond, Charlie Garnham, Kye Murray, Cherno Bah, Coary Sutherland, Scott Morrison Hamza Hina, Abraham, Leigh Griffins, John Baird, Martin Dickerson
Players Out: Seb Medica, Luke Collins, Nathan Costello, Charlie Fleming, Daniel Robinson, Amir Ajan, Pieter Jacobsz, Yannick Dao, Igor Cvijanovic, Joshua Willis, Purvish Appadoo
Skipper for 2026: Hamish van Dieken – The coach has worked with the striker since he was 18 years old, and he has grown into a very mature player for his age at just 22. He embodies everything they want both in the dressing room and on the pitch — a natural leader who sets standards, leads by example, and earns the respect of his teammates.
Young Player/Players to Watch: We’ve got a couple of young players coming through, but at this stage we don’t want to put too much pressure on them. That said, we’re very happy with what we’ve seen so far in pre-season and excited about their development.
BALCATTA ETNA
Grindleford Reserve, Balcatta
Founded: 1977
President: Mr Peter Carlino
Coach: Terry Nicolaou
Assistant Coaches:
State Championships: None
State Cups: None
2025 League: 10th
2025 Cup: Semi-Final – lost 4-5 on pens to Olympic Kingsway after 2-2 at full time
Goals Scored: 22
Goal Conceded: 45
Top Goalscorer: Jon Stynes and Rostyn Griffiths 4
2026 Night Series – 3rd in Group C
BALCATTA ETNA survived relegation on the final game of the season at Floreat Athena, with Terry Nicolaou turning their fortunes around, after looking like they would be in the relegation play offs, and he will look to continue their upward progression this season. A number of experienced players have been released, the likes of Rostyn Griffiths, Declan Hargreaves and Hasani Sinclair to name a few, but have added some quality. They struggled for goals last season, 22 was the least in the competition, and they have moved to rectify this adding the likes of Iljas Ahmedov, Ethan Anthony and Hayden Lowe. They also struggled at the other end to, but bringing in Jack Allen, Chris Tilson and Stephen Christopher will hopefully help them. They have struggled in the competition since 2020, finishing eighth or below since then, but is this a new era at the club, only time will tell.
“With a young, committed, and enthusiastic squad I worked hard to assemble, we enter the 2026 campaign with a clear sense of purpose and a long-term vision built on smart recruitment, strong culture, and continuous development. The club’s recruitment and development strategy is designed to build sustainable success, not short-term fixes, therefore, together we negotiated and signed targeted technically talented footballers who possess a genuine hunger to improve, compete, and grow into intelligent, tactically aware players. The football department and I approached this with discipline and intent, prioritising character, ambition, and football IQ as much as raw ability. Balcatta Etna aims to convert youthful energy into consistent performances, pushing for a stronger league position and greater resilience in key moments. My coaching style and philosophy are based on my own experiences as a player combining old school techniques and directions, whilst embracing the more modern improvements the game has to offer. The team intends to become more dynamic in possession, allowing the players to show their creative attributes whilst being disciplined without the ball, and more confident in dictating the outcome of games. The squad is being shaped into a group that embraces responsibility, thrives under challenge, and represents the club with pride. Supporters can expect a vibrant, modern style of football driven by technical quality and ambition. The club continues to position itself as a destination for young players who want to develop the right way. 2026 is seen as a foundational year — one that strengthens the squad’s core, sharpens its identity, and sets the stage for future finals contention.” - Balcatta Coach Terry Nicolaou

Riley Stephenson (A very good communicator, encouraging, passionate who has unfinished business at NPL Level.) 4. John Stynes (Experienced at NPL Level & Shows great leadership at training & Games)
Young Player/Players to Watch: 1. Jarred Flavel – An exciting talent with creative dribbling ability, speed, and goal scoring ability. 2. Chris Tilson – A strong and mature defender with a great passing range and aerial strength. 3. Stefan Sotirovski The keeper is a great shot stopper, was Instrumental in our survival in 2025 and will play an important role again this season. 4. Charlie Betts - A striker who has the ability, speed, and positional awareness to score 15+ Goals for the season.
BAYSWATER CITY
Bayswater City
Frank Drago Reserve, Bayswater
Founded: 1962 (Bayswater United)
President: Mr Oriano Colli
Coach: Matthew Sparrow
Assistant Coaches: John Kearney and Matt Lenzo

2025 Cup: Sixth Round – lost 0-2 v Inglewood United (H)
Goals Scored: 53
Goal Conceded: 16
Top Goalscorer: Chris Jackson 12
2026 Night Series – 2nd in Group A
BAYSWATER CITY took all before them last season, winning the title, the top four finals series, and having a good run in the inaugural Australian Championship. In his first season as head coach at Frank Drago Reserve, Matthew Sparrow led the club to a first league title since 2017, and he will be aiming to go back-to-back in 2026. They scored 53 goals, the equal most in the league, with Chris Jackson leading the way with 12 goals, and they only conceded 16, which was the best in the competition, with players like Luke Palmateer, Jackson Stephens and Lewis Italiano outstanding. They have lost a few players from last season, with club skipper Gordon Smith moving on after seven years at the club, but Sparrow has brought in the experienced Daniel Stynes, Jason Saladris, Borbor Sam and Brent Quick, to name a few to fill the void, and they will be the team to beat in 2026.
“After an incredible 2025, where we managed to do the double, there’s a real buzz around Bayswater City heading into 2026. The squads in great shape, and with a few new faces coming in, plus some of our young guys ready to step up, I’m excited about what this season holds. The lads know what it takes to win at this level, and the intensity we showed last year will be the benchmark they’re aiming for again. With Oriano Colli as Club President and Ian McMurray supporting me as Assistant Manager, we’ve got the experience and structure around the team to make sure we’re ready week in, week out.
“Gordon Smith has moved on after seven fantastic years with the club. He’s been a top professional, a huge influence in the dressing room, and his legacy will be remembered here for a long time. Of course, we’ll miss him on the pitch, but it also gives others a chance to step up, and that’s part of football. The bar’s high after last season, and retaining the title won’t be easy — there are plenty of strong teams in the league, and every game is going to be a test. But I’ve got a hungry, capable squad that’s ready to push themselves again. I know what’s expected, and the players do too. We’re not going to hide from it — we’ll go out and try to win every game and hopefully make the fans proud. 2026 promises to be an exciting season for Bayswater City. The squad has experience, quality, and plenty of energy, and I’m looking forward to seeing them show what they’re capable of. If we can bring the same intensity we showed last year into every match, I think we’re in for another big year. Fans can expect commitmet, passion, and hopefully plenty of moments to celebrate along the way.” Bayswater Head Coach Matthew Sparrow
Players In: Jason Saldaris (Floreat Athena), Coby Sutton, Brent Quick (Stirling Macedonia), Borbor Sam, Daniel Stynes, Alex Petrascu Charlie Burden Whittleton (Grimsby Borough FC UK), Ryan Inman (Kettering Town UK)
Players out: Gordon Smith (Perth RedStar),
Skipper for 2026 - Luke Palmateer will continue as captain. He’s a top professional and leads by example on and off the pitch. He sets the standards for everyone around him, and his influence on the younger players is massive.
Young Player/Players to Watch: - Charlie Burden Whittleton, Alex Patrascu, and Coby Sutton — are ready to take their next steps. They’ve got huge potential, and it’s great to see them pushing the senior players every day.

Goals scored: 46
Goals conceded: 22
Top Goalscorer: Albert Luwi 11
2026 Night Series - 4th in Group B
DIANELLA WHITE EAGLES have returned to the top flight in WA football for the first time since 1998, and Ian Ferguson’s side sealed the Division One title with a win at Kalamunda City in the final game of the season. A tight defensive unit was the catalyst in their promotion, only conceding 22 goals, the least in the competition. Albert Luwi was the main route to goal, the big striker scoring 11 goals, with Gavin Byars adding eight. They will be will many punters selection for relegation, but with Ferguson at the helm, they will cause a lot of problems to many teams. They have lost a number of players, but Ferguson has signed a number of experienced NPL players, the likes of Andrew Palmer Chris Saldaris, Asher Nelson Ben Hinshelwood and Igor Cvijanovic, but do they have the depth in their squad, we will have to wait and see.
“It will be a new environment for everyone including the club, everyone has done their outmost best to prepare for the season ahead and we are looking forward to the challenge.” - Dianella White Eagles Coach Ian Ferguson
Players In: Igor Cvijanovic, Asher Nelson, Event Kadenge, Alexander Christodoulakis, Ben Hinshelwood, Andrew Palmer, Christopher Saldaris, Michael McDougall
Players Out: Alfie Wheeler. Magai Deng, Paul Zimarino, Matt Worton, Gavin Byars, Christian Belladonna, Anthony Dolan, Francisco Caballero Casanova, Kian Mcguigan, Eion Massey

Young Player/Players to Watch: Jack Heffernan – The young midfielder has been impressive in the Night Series, and the teenager hasn’t looked out of place, the club is looking forward to seeing him in NPL action this season.

Goals Scored: 26
Goal Conceded: 48
Top Goalscorer: Nick Ambrogio 6
2026 Night Series: 3rd in Group A
FREMANTE CITY had to earn their place in the NPL through the promotion / Relegation play off’s, the port side edging out Joondalup City in the final last season. Scott Miller’s side only won five games last season, and only two at home, something they need to change if they are to rebound this season. The port side will look to rebound in 2026, and Scott Miller has brought in a number of players, including Chad Nilson, Bill Orr and Iljas Ahmedov, and the former Perth Glory defender will have his side well set up and hard to break down. He has a number of talented youngsters coming through the club’s academy, and they have shown over the preseason they can mix it in the first team. But do they have the players to improve their poor form in the final third to challenge in the league, only time will tell.
“The pre-season has wrapped up, and we look forward to the season kick off. We've had a strong pre-season, and most of the guys are all set to go but we are still taking care of a few players. The team has responded to everything we have asked of them and the new members have blended in nicely. There's a genuine sense of determination among the squad, and the players believe they have some unfinished business to take care off.” - Fremantle assistant coach Dale Wingell.
Players In: Iljas Ahmedov (UWA Nedlands), Chad Neilson (Inglewood United), Bill Orr (Canning City), Takumi Kambai (Balga)
Players Out: Sam Cooke (Overseas), Hayden Stevens (Interstate), Anthony Topini (Work Commitments)
Skipper for 2026: Cameron Edwards will take the armband this season – The former Perth Glory midfielder is experience and has leadership, which will help the younger players in the squad.
Young Player/Players to Watch: We have a number of teenagers who have impressed in pre-season, Max Naylor, Isaiah Wingell and Felton Arthur are all 17 and are set for big seasons.
OLYMPIC KINGSWAY
Olympic Kingsway
Kingsway Sporting Complex, Landsdale
Founded: 1953
President: Mr Steven Nelkovski
Coach: David Tough
Assistants: Ross Edwards, Willie McNally, Simon Madaschi, Josh Green
State Championships: 3 (1978, 1980, 2024)
State Cups: 1 (2024)
2025 League: 2nd
2025 Cup: Final – Lost 1-2 v Stirling Macedonia
Goals Scored: 53
Goals Conceded: 22
Top Goalscorer: Laat Manyec 10
2026 Night Series: Beaten by Stirling Macedonia 1-0 in Final
OLYMPIC KINGSWAY won the title in 2024, but the Green Machine failed to go back-to-back, edged out by Bayswater by just one point. David Tough’s side only lost three games all season, and they can feel aggrieved to have missed out, but I’m sure they will be there or thereabout again in 2026. They bagged 53 goals, with Laat Manyec leading the way with ten goals with Joe Hobson adding another nine. It just wasn’t the league where they impressed, a great run in the Australia Cup, saw them best A-League side Melbourne Victory, and becoming the second WA side to reach the round of 16, eventually losing on penalties against Brisbane City. The signing of former Perth Glory duo Daniel De Silva and Jack Clisby are a huge coup for the club, while former Hamilton Accies midfielder Reegan Mimnaugh has also joined, but they have lost of instrumental Josh Samson who is out for the season after surgery and defender Ryan Lowry, who has retired.
“We had a significant overhaul of the squad in the off season and are very pleased with the players we have brought in. We believe the group has the quality and depth to compete across all competitions this season.” – Olympic Kingsway Coach David Tough
Players In: Daniel De Silva (Macarthur FC), Jack Clisby (Western Sydney Wanderers), Reegan Mimnaugh (East Kilbride – Scotland), Robert Harker (Hume City NPLVIC), Bryce Bafford (Unattached), Sam Kamper (Broadmeadow Magic), Noah Ieraci (Perth Glory), Will Ferson (Perth Glory), Ali Mohamed (Floreat Athena)
Players Out: Jayden Gorman (Dubai City FC), Lebib Lebib (Oakleigh Cannons), Laat Mathiang (Dandenong Thunder), Luke Hewings (Western Knights), Ronan Dowling (Sorrento FC), Ryan Lowry (Retired), Fanuel Dawitt,
Will Richards, Jono Leithead, Josh Samson (Out for the season with injury)
Skipper for 2026: Mitch Oxborrow – The former Perth Glory midfielder will captain the team this season, he is a natural leader who drives the standards all the time.
Young Player/Players to Watch: Noah Ieraci and Will Fearson – Both players have impressed in preseason, and will be vital in the squad in 2026.
PERTH AZZURRI
Dorrien Gardens, West Perth
Founded: 1950
President: Mr Jason Marocchi
Coach: Kenny Lowe
Assistant Coaches: Ellis Healing, Tommy Maras, Miguel Coehlo, Glenn Giudici
State Championships: 24 (1960, 1962, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1971, 1975, 1976, 1981, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2021)
State Cups: 11 (1960, 1965, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1973, 1981, 1990, 1993, 2001, 2005)
2025 League: 6th
2025 Cup: Fifth Round – Lost 2-4 v Olympic Kingsway
Goals Scored: 41
Goals Conceded: 43
Top Goalscorer: Gordon Perkins 10
2026 Night Series: 2nd in Group B
The name PERTH AZZURRI will return to the NPL for the first time since 1988, with the Dorrien Gardens clubs reverting back to their former name. The club won nine titles as the Azzurri, and have gone on to win 15 more, and Kenny Lowe has been busy in the transfer market to win another one, after last winning the title back in 2021. Last season’s sixth place was an improvement, on the tenth placed finish in 2024, and with the likes of Golden Boot winner Pieter Jacobsz, Sam Pollard and Amir Ajan coming on board, they will be in mix this season. They did concede 43 goals, the most in the top six, and this is something the former Perth Glory coach has looked to improve, bringing in former Reading keeper Liam Driscoll and Charlie Fleming, as well as the returning Alex Silla and Cody Tana.
“The league only seems to get more competitive year after year, which is fantastic for our local game. Clubs continue to invest in fresh talent (from home and aboard), coaches continue to adapt and innovate and the promoted club(s) strong desire to make an impression only drives further improvements in standards. As evidenced by Bayswater and Olympic strong showings in national competitions last season. We expect no easy games week-to-week and know that we will need to be constantly at the top of our game to get the results we’re after. We are pleased with our off-season recruitment, how the squad is coming together and the strong competition for places. Which has us all now champing at the bit to get the league season started and deliver performances (and hopefully silverware) that make the Azzurri faithful proud.” – Perth SC coach Kenny Lowe.
Players In: : Liam Driscoll (Green Gully, Victoria), Alex Silla (Fremantle), Sam Pollard (Perth Redstar), Charlie Fleming (Armadale), Cody Tana (Akragas Giovanili, Italy), Amir Ajan (Armadale), Pieter Jacobsz (Armadale)
Players Out: Mark Birighitti (Perth Glory), Coby Sutton (Bayswater), Luka Hirninger (Tus Koblenz, Germany), Neil Gilles (Kingsley Westside), Thiak Kuel (Balcatta Etna), Oliver Lebihan (Subiaco), Daniel Faichney (Stirling Macedonia), Daniel Zivkovic (Dianella White Eagles)
Skipper for 2026: David Ninkovich “Didi” is highly respected by all his peers and has really impressed everyone involved with his high standards, strong work ethic, professionalism and winning mentality. Has really grown into his leadership role over the last couple years and we see Didi having a massive say in how our group performs this season.
Young Player/Players to Watch: Sean O’Connor has come on leaps and bounds heading into year two with the club and after a big pre-season. Calm on the ball, with great natural ability to control and dictate the tempo of our football, we’re looking forward to seeing Sean make the most of his playing opportunities this season and become a key contributor for us.
PERTH GLORY
Perth Glory
Home Venue - Sam Kerr Football Centre, Queens Park
Founded: 1995
President: Mr Ross Pelligra
Coach: Joe Heath
Assistant Coach: Kev McAvoy
State Championships: None
State Cups: None
2025 League: 4th
2025 Cup: N/A
Goals Scored: 52
Goals Conceded: 30
Top Goalscorer: Seb Despotovski 11
2026 Night Series: Beaten 2-3 in the 3rd and 4th playoff by Perth RedStar
PERTH GLORY were the big improvers last season and under the tutelage of former Nottingham Forest defender Joe Heath, where they qualified for the top four finals series. In 2024 they had to win the relegation play-off to stay in the top flight, but last season the like of Will Freney, Gio De Abreu, Tadiwanashe Kuzamba and Seb Despotovski’s form saw them sign A-League contracts with the club. The club have some talented youngsters in the squad this season, with players like Alfie Knight Ryan Warner and Oliver Evans all around the A-League squad, while coach Joe Heath has brought in some players from the 23’s and 18’s. They play attractive football, and a number of the new squad haven’t played senior football before, so that will be a challenge. So, it will take time for them to settle in, but after a good night series, reaching the semi-final, they will once again be a team to watch in 2026.
“We are looking forward to the season ahead. The league looks stronger this year compared to last, and we are looking forward to again challenging our young players and testing them against men. Our focus is on development and producing the next player that can step into our A League. Playing in the NPL at a young age gives them a taste of competitive football and feeling the pressure of needing to get results.” Perth Glory Coach Joe Heath
Players In: Jesse Lang (From over East), Shaun Mutyavaviri, Tyler Nyabinde, Tyler Fitch, Achnaff Sayon, Jack Lenon, Lucas Mura, Chritiano Farfan, Ollie Evans, Henri Knight (all from the 23’s), Dhaniel Brown (From U18 squad)
Players Out: Chris Pullela (QPR, UK), Max Naylor, Alex Bolton (AIK, Sweden), Noah Ierachi (Kingsway), Will Ferson (Kingsway), Gio De Abreu, Tadiwanashe Kuzamba (All A-League), Mark Cin Zah (University), Royie Rahamim (Robert Morris University, America)
Skipper for 2026: Daniel Jankuloski will continue as captain this season. He is a leader with the way he applies himself day in, day out. All the players respect him, and he has a great personality in the dressing room. I feel like it will benefit him as a player in the future being captain now.
Young Player/Players to Watch: We have a lot of talented young players and I am excited to see them coming through. Dhaniel Brown who made his debut in night series at 15 years old, Louis Donnely who made his debut against Red Star the other night (16 years old), and Shaun Mutyavaviri is showing signs of being an exciting player to watch also.

Assistant Coaches: David Butterfield, Rob Maa
State Championships: 1 - (2023), 2 As ECU Joondalup (1999, 2020)
Cup Winners: 2 - As ECU Joondalup (1998, 2002)
2025 League: Third

Goals Scored: 33
Goals Conceded: 23
Top Goalscorer: Daryl Nicol 18 (Golden Boot)
2026 Night Series: Won 3-2 in the 3rd and 4th playoff against Perth Glory
PERTH REDSTAR finished third last season, which continued their run of top four finishes in the NPL, since Callum Salmon has been in charge at the Joondalup-based club. They did struggle in front of goal last season, only scoring 33 goals, the least in the top eight teams, even though Daryl Nicol won the NPL Golden Boot, with 18, and the Scottish striker will be missed after retiring at the end of last season. Defensively they were outstanding, with skipper Blair Govan and keeper Liam Reddy holding tight a defence, who only let in 23 goals. Salmon hasn’t rested on his laurels, bringing in Scottish striker Aaron Black, from Clydebank, while Gordon Smith and Riley Warland return to the club, who will give them experience. But the club are blessed to have so much young talent, with the likes of Matthew George, Sonny O’Shea and Theo Leeming, to name a few, plus promoting under 18’s captain Teddi Curran to the first team squad this season. They made the semi-final of the night series, and again looked good, and will there or thereabouts come seasons end.
“Once again, we’re all very excited for the season to kick off. We have lost some players this season, and I’d like to thank Daryl Nicol, Sam Pollard, Andrew Palmer and Daniel Walsh for their service during their time at the club. We’ve added some quality as well, with both Gordon Smith and Riley Warland returning to the club, and I believe we have a real good mix of experience and youth, and our squad depth continues to grow, which is pleasing.” Perth RedStar Coach Callum Salmon
Players In: Riley Warland (Stirling Macedonia), Matt Ntoumenopoulos (Inglewood United), Gordon Smith (Bayswater City), Aaron Black (Clydebank – Scotland)
Players Out: Daryl Nicol, Andrew Palmer, Sam Pollard, Daniel Walsh
Skipper for 2026: Blair Govan – The big defender continues on in his role as captain. A Fantastically experienced player who operates at the top of WA football and is a great influence on the younger players in the side.
Young Player/Players to Watch: The RedStar are blessed to have many young, talented players in and around our senior program, and to name a few, Teddi Curran and Sonny O Shea will all have a big role to play in their 2026 campaign.
SORRENTO
Percy Doyle Reserve, Duncraig
Founded: 1971
President: Mt Victor Giudicatti
Coach: Andres Oliveira
Assistant Coaches: Shaun Kilkelly
State Championships: 4 (2001, 2006, 2008, 2012)
State Cups: 3 (2011, 2012, 2015
2025 League: 9th

Goals Scored: 27
Goals Conceded: 38
Top Goalscorer: Franco Vila 7
2026 Night Series: 4th in Group C
It was a season of consolidated for SORRENTO last season, the club back in the NPL after promotion from Division One, and Steven McGarry side only had two defeats in their last five games, which saw them move clear of the drop zone. McGarry has moved on and former Inglewood United coach Andres Oliveira has come on board for 2026. Defensively the Gulls conceded the least goals of the bottom seven teams, and the new coach has strengthened that area bringing in Jakub Prajza and has the returning Mark Barnett, who missed all last season with injury. Henry Durr also returns to the west after time in Melbourne, who will add to the experience in the middle of the park, while the likes of experienced Dean Cummings, David Stokoe and Scott Robertson will be vital if the Gulls are to improve in 2026. Do they have the depth to challenge for a top four place, we’ll have to wait and see.
“We’ve got a good mix of experience and youthful energy, which will give us something solid to build from. If we can stay fit (injury free) I think we can have great and enjoyable season. We’re not getting ahead of ourselves we just want to keep improving week by week and see where that takes us.”- Sorrento Coach Andres Oliveira
Players In: Henry Durr, Mark Barnett, Connor Simpson Kim Kyunghwan Ronan Dowling and Jakub Prajza.
Players Out: Hamza Hena, Joe O’Brien, David Keenan
Skipper for 2026: Dean Cumming – The inspirational attacking midfielder will again wear the armband for the Gulls. Injury curtailed his appearances last season, but the Englishman is fit and raring to go in 2026
Young Player/Players to Watch: We have a number of talented players, who I hope will contribute for us this season, the likes of Clay Gibbs, Zech Dabbs Manolo Veneracion and Ronan Dowling.

2026 Night Series: Winners – beat Olympic Kingsway 1-0 in Final
Last season’s fifth place finish was the lowest finish for STIRLING MACEDONIA, since they returned to the NPL in 2022, but they were very competitive, and the Macedonia Park club ended the season on a high, defeating Olympic Kingsway in the State League Cup Final, and they will be looking to continue with that form this season. A good pre-season, which saw them win the Night Series is a positive start, and coach Ago Mujic has worked hard to bolster the squad, after the likes of Brent Quick, Leigh Griffiths and Sam Dweh left the club. He has relied on some of the under 20’s player in the night series, and they haven’t let him down, but with Bayley Brown-Montgomery and skipper Dejan Spaseski back fully fit, and the return of Hristijan Jankuloski, they will be important to guide the youngsters. They have some match winners, like Danny Douglas, Sam Wynne and Kade Fearnall, and if they can gel, they will be there or thereabout again.
“The season ahead I think it will be most competitive we seen in last few years. We lost five starters so it will be hard to replace those players but I want to thank all of them for great service to the club and personally being pleasure coaching those boys. We signed lots of young players from our 20s team and really looking forward working to with this group of players this season and building on last season where we finished very strongly. We worked hard all preseason and we are ready for the league and cup competitions now and boys can’t wait to start.” Stirling Macedonia Coach Ago Mujic
Players In: Jamie Bilaloski (Perth Azzurri), Liam Hattersley (Sorrento), Hristijan Yankuloski – (FK AP Strumica), Daniel Faichney (Perth Azzurri), Marcus Johnston, Pacifique Dufitimikiza Tommy Sputore (All from the 23’s)
Players Out: Brent Quick (Bayswater), James Bosdet (Quinns), Riley Warland (RedStar), Asher Nelson (Dianella), Leigh Griffiths (Armadale), Sam Dweh (Brunswick Juventus (Vic)
Skipper for 2026: - Dejan Spaseski – The midfielder will carry on from 2025 - Always leads by example on and off the pitch and a club legend.
Young Player/Players to Watch: Shade Stewart/Josh Bilaloski– Both have been on fire in the Night Series, and will be important next season.
WESTERN KNIGHTS

State Cups: 3 (2000, 2008, 2017)

2025 Cup: Sixth Round – Beaten on pens by Stirling Macedonia
Goals Scored: 34
Goal Conceded: 43
Top Goalscorer: Konstantinos Sparta 8
2026 Night Series: 3rd in Group B
A seventh placed finished continued WESTERN KNIGHTS improvement, since promotion back to the top flight in 2024. Adam Kostrencic goes into his fifth season at Nash Field, and was pivotal in guiding the club back to the NPL, and he will be looking for more of the same in 2026. They did struggle in front of goal again last season, only scoring 34 goals, the second worst in the top seven teams, with Konstantinos Sparta leading the way with eight, but they need to improve in that area if they want to be challenging. A strong midfield saw them go toe-to-toe with the top teams last season, with the likes of Kristian Santich, Jesse Lazzaro and Sparta, and they will need to be the same in 2026. They have also added some experience, with English defensive duo Aaron Pike and Regan Hutchinson joining, while attacking midfielder Sim Woon-Sub, who has played extensively across various leagues in Asia, including stints in Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia and Hong Kong. They will have a strong squad, but do they have depth to challenge for honours, only time will tell.
“We are now entering our third season back in the top league and have further enhanced our squad with some quality additions. The playing group has worked really hard over the preseason with our new players settling in well. Our younger players gained very valuable experience last season and will be looking to continue their growth. There are no easy games in the NPL and with consistent performances our aim is to challenge and continue to move forward.” Western Knights coach Adam Kostrencic
Players In: Daniel Walsh (Perth RedStar), Luke Hewings (Olympic Kingsway), Jack Sprigg (Floreat Athena), Regan Hutchinson (Worksop Town UK), Aaron Pike (Kempston Rovers UK), Sim Woon-Sub (Wollongong Wolves) Sam Barry (Sol de Mayo Argentina)
Players Out: Alex Da Rocha, Callum Mellowship, Jay Sheridan, Daniel Santich, Tarek Atta, Henry Curtis, Ellis Lawson
Skipper for 2026: – Jesse Lazzaro – The midfielder will be skipper again in 2026, after he had an excellent season last year, he will be vital for the Knights.
Young Player/Players to Watch: Jack Sprigg - He has worked really hard during the preseason and has shown us already glimpses of his technical ability, work rate and desire to make a real impact this season.

COCKBURN CITY
Dalmatinac Park, Spearwood
Founded: 1929 (Spearwood Rovers)
President: Mr. Paul McVittie
Coach: Kenny Palmer
Assistant Coaches: Paulo Basto, Sam Hutchings
2025: 2nd – Promoted in Playoffs
Goals scored: 48
Goals conceded: 28
Top Goalscorer: James Bourne 11
2026 Night Series: Third in Group C
After relegation from the NPL in 2023, it’s been all downhill since then for COCKBURN CITY, and they were relegated to Division Two the following season. But last season the Cockerels began their rival, clinching promotion in a dramatic penalty shoot-out win against Kalamunda City in the Promotion / Relegation Play-off Final. James Bourne led the way in front of goal, as they scored 48 goals, the second best in the league, while at the other end they only conceded 28, which was the second least. The Cockerels will be looking to make the step back to the NPL next season, and coach Kenny Palmer goes into his second season in charge, and the return of Daniel Robinson will help them, along with Taylor Rae, Sam Geeves, Alex Guzman, Milan Bulatovic, and I’m sure they will be competitive this season, but will they challenge for the top four, only time will tell.
“We look forward to another year of growth not only on the pitch but off the pitch as well. With the re-development of Beale Park and a young motivated squad we will be looking to build on the foundations and standards set last season,” Cockburn City coach Kenny Palmer.
Players In: Taylor Rae, Sam Geeves, Alex Guzman, Milan Bulatovic, Daniel Robinson
Players Out: Rob Sinclair, Reuben Reddy
Skipper for 2026: Euen Grant – The defender will continue as club captain, providing experience and leadership.
Young Player/Players to Watch: We're excited to see the progression of all our younger players now that they have had a full year's experience in first team football. Along with the quality added by a couple of our reserve team players promoted into the first team squad, and additional signings made in key positions, we look forward to the contribution that all our players will make over the course of the season.
CURTIN UNIVERSITY
Edinburgh Oval, Bentley
President: Mr Campbell Ballantyne
Coach: Troy Reid
Assistant Coaches: Martin Hogg, Richard Bryant, Kurt Harrison
2025: 10th
Goals scored: 31
Goals conceded: 46
Top Goalscorer: Kieran Witt 8
2026 Night Series: Third in Group E
It was a first ever season in the Division One last season for CURTIN UNIVERSITY, and they struggled late in the season, not winning in the last six games, but they did enough to keep clear of the relegation zone, and coach Troy Reid will be looking for an improvement in 2026. The coach goes into his sixth season in charge at the club, and they need to tighten up at the back, after conceding 46 goals, the second most in the league. They have added some quality players for the new season, the likes of Declan Tanna, Mason Langham and James Oliver, put have lost a few others like Rowan Steed and Marcus Seydel. After a tough first season in Division One, they will go in search of consistency in 2026, so we’ll have to wait and see if they can make an impact.
“Last season was about earning our place. After promotion, the focus was on competing every week, learning the level, and proving we belonged in Division One. This year, the aim is to build on those foundations. We want to keep establishing ourselves at this level and keep improving our standards, with the ambition of pushing closer to the top half of the table. We know there are some big, well-resourced clubs in the league, and we respect that. For us, it’s about togetherness, preparation, and consistency. If we stay aligned and keep working the way we have, I’m confident we’ll be competitive every week and hopefully surprise a few people along the way.” Curtin University coach Troy Reid.
Players In: Declan Tanna, Jonah Froman, Mason Langham, James Oliver, Brendon Rintoul, Jason Stewart, Jason Peppin
Players Out: Rowan Steed, Nayan Brown, Daniel Marques, Lachlan Hannah, Scott Geare, Janno Saks, Daniel Davey, Marcus Seydel
Skipper for 2026: Jeffrey Ledwith will continue as skipper for 2026; the defender is a great leader on and off the pitch.
Young Player/Players to Watch: Christian Price. He was promoted from the Reserves last season. He’s a relentless full back who defends aggressively and drives forward with intent. Still young, still developing, but already capable of turning defence into attack in a heartbeat. One to keep a close eye on in 2026.
FLOREAT ATHENA

2025: 12th NPLWA - Relegated
Goals Scored: 23
Goal Conceded: 51
Top Goalscorer: Abraham Mathet 6
2026 Night Series – Winners – Beat Inglewood United 4-1 in Final
It was a season to forget for FLOREAT ATHENA, relegated from the NPL for the first time, and going through the whole season without a win. The last time the club played outside the Premier League was in 1973, when they secured the Division One title, and they will be hoping new coach Alun Vernals, who replaces Vas Vujacic, can repeat that this season. They have started well, winning the Night Series Final, and with new recruits Declan Hargreaves, Joshua Willis and imports Jordan Langley, Rhys Davies, and Harry Lewis, to name a few they will be the team to beat this season. Sorrento went straight back up in 2024, but Inglewood struggled after relegation last season, so if they can get a good start to the season, they will be hard to stop and will be title favourites.
“We have a brand-new squad from last season, and we’ve been pleased how they have all settled, but this league is so competitive, you have to be at your best week in and week out, so consistency is the key, and that what we're aiming for.” Floreat Athena coach Alun Vernals
Players In: Declan Hargreaves, Harvey Tomlinson, Joshua Willis, Jordan Langley, Rhys Davies, Francisco Caballero, Harry Lewis, Tom Wassholm, Nathan Hg, Rowan Steed, Devon Lindemann, Callum Dobbs
Players Out: Jason Saldaris, Chris Saldaris, Cameron Murray, Cherno Bah, Abraham Mathet, Noah Shamaki, Jack Sprigg, John Lardis, Egide Ngendakumana, Hasen Asadi, Noah Kanzi, Majok Mayen

2026 Night Series – Semi-Final lost 0-4 v Floreat Athena
GWELUP CROATIA missed out on a top four spot last season, this after only one win in their last five games, saw them fall five points adrift. Basil Lenzo, who goes into his second season at the club, will be looking for an improvement in 2026, and they need to tighten up at the back, after conceding 39 goals, which was the second most in the top eight teams. They did have a good night series, reaching the semi-final, before a defeat to Floreat Athena, but the club were in NPL in 2022, but have struggled to make a return, could this be the year. They have added some experience the likes of Seb Medica, Callum Stocks Oli Ford, while they have elevated some of the youngsters in the club to their squad, do they have the depth, only time will tell, but they will be in the mix.
“We want to be competitive and in the Top 4 come the end of the season and do that we needed to build depth and bring in more talent all over the park. There is some excitement with the blend of talent we have and we know that we need to bring our best every week to achieve the club’s objective.” Gwelup Croatia Head Coach Basil Lenzo
Players In: Seb Medica (Armadale), Callum Stocks (Joondalup), Jack Overy (Joondalup), Jake Wood (Joondalup, Jamie Sinnett (Joondalup), Luca Morelli (Stirling), Oli Ford (UWA), Roman Gajardo (Kalamunda), Alex Nicolaides (Kingsway), Jack Connelly (RedStar)

Skipper for 2026: TBC
Young Player/Players to Watch: There has been a focus on maintaining our talent (Brothers; Gianluca and Masimo Pianno, Jacob Rossi, Nick Ecceveria, Daniel Iuliano, Rocco Liberti and backfilling it with some good young players such as Jack Overy, Jack Connolley, Luca Morelli (2024 U20 NPL Player of the Year), Alex Nicolaides.

2026 Night Series – Final – Beaten 1-4 v Floreat Athena
After relegation from the NPL in 2024, INGLEWOOD UNITED struggled last season, finishing a disappointing ninth, and coach Cameron Lord has moved on, with the experienced Glenn Grostate taking over at the Proto DPS Inglewood Stadium. Defensively they struggled, conceding 43 goals, and I’m sure that’s something the new coach will look to tighten up, and the signings of the likes of Rostyn Griffiths, Gavin Byers, Liam and Declan Hudson, Owen Goodliffe and Oliver Simpson will help. They have had a successful night series reaching the final before a defeat against Floreat, but they have showed good signs. After a poor season in 2025, the club have big ambitions to return to the NPL, and I’m sure they will be there or thereabout come season end.
“Our aim for the season is to be around the play offs and hopefully give us a chance of trying to play for something coming the end of the season. We have a big squad which will give us the push hopefully coming end of the season. We have experience with the likes of Griffiths, Salinger, Evans, Browny, Barbas, Simmo and the talented youth should give us a great balance.” Inglewood United assistant coach Adam Tong
Players In: Billy Baker, Liam Hudson, Declan Hudson, Oliver Simpson, Rostyn Griffiths, Owen Goodlife, Hayden Palazzo, Jordan Barbas, Kian McGuigan, Gavin Byers, Carl Dias, Charlie Nicholson, Leon Giglia, Louis Giglia, Ethan Grant, Adam Tong, Kelvin Hudson
Players Out: Chad Nilson, Chris Tlson, Ryan Hogan, Dean Hurley, Jason Dunphy, Stephen Christopher, Jodan Black, Cammron Morris, Ciaran Byrne, Matthew Eieth, Hayden Lowe, Conor Hogan
Skipper for 2026: Rostyn Griffiths – An A-League and Indian Super League winner will captain the side in 2026. His experience and knowledge and leadership will grow a great foundation at the club for years to come.
Young Player/Players to Watch: We’ve got some really good players who will be an important part of the squad this season, and we’ve been impressed with Leon Giglia in the pre-season.
JOONDALUP CITY
Iluka Sports Complex, Iluka
President: Mr Steve Amphlett
Coach: Guy McDonald
Assistant Coaches: Richie Howels, Colm Costello, Chris McCrone - GK coach
2025: 3rd
Goals scored: 41
Goals conceded: 26
Top Goalscorer: Harry Edwards 9
2026 Night Series: Second in Group F
It was a great season for JOONDALUP CITY last year, and they were one game away from the NPL, but they were beaten 2-1 by Fremantle City in the promotion/relegation playoff final. It was their first season back in Division One since 2018, and they surprised many, with Guy McDonald, who goes into his third season at the club, turning their fortunes around. Defensively they had the third best record in the league, only conceding 26 goals, while Harry Edwards led the line, bagging nine goals. This season they missed out on a place in the night series knockout stage, but it looks like they mean business again, signing the likes of Louis Hadfield, Phoenix Lee and Reece Kral to strengthen their squad. If the new players can gel quickly, they will be in the mix again.
“We are looking forward to the commencement of the new season. Being our first year in the league last year, we gained valuable insight into both ourselves and the demands of the league, ultimately finishing just one kick away from securing promotion. During the off-season we have strengthened the squad by adding further quality and experience, and our focus is firmly on building upon the strong foundations established in 2025. We are under no illusions though as to the challenges that lie ahead, the competition will be demanding each and every week. We are well prepared, focused, and fully committed to meeting that challenge.”– Joondalup City Head Coach Guy McDonald
Players In: Louis Hadfield, Phoenix Lee, Magai Deng, Reece Kral, Luke Steer, Alfie Wheeler, Taiga Kobayashi
Players Out: Jamie Sinnott, Callum Stocks, Jack Overy, Eddie Wilcock, Jayden Rowels, Jacob Wood
Skipper for 2026: Liam Peacock - He continues as club captain - He’s a true leader, a winner and sets standards that represents everything that we are about.

2025: 4th
Goals scored: 36
Goals conceded: 24
Top Goalscorer: Max Adamson 14
2026 Night Series: Quarter-Finals – lost v Inglewood United 0-2
KINGSLEY WESTSIDE were one of the surprise team in the league last season, winning the night series for the first time, and finishing fourth, and missing out on promotion to the NPL in the promotion/relegation playoffs. It was tough start last season, the club parting ways with coach Richard Abrams, who had taken over from Steven Dimitrovich, who had led the club up from the Amateur Premier Division. But Ben Andrews took over and the club lifted late in the season, and they only lost once in their last 14 games, to finish fourth, their highest position ever in the State League. The coach will look to maintain their form in 2026, They had a good night series this season, reaching the quarter-finals, before a 0-2 loss to Inglewood. They have kept most of last season’s squad, with a few additions, so they will be among the front runners come season end.
“The season is shaping up to be a very challenging but exciting one. It’s looking like it’ll be one of the most competitive in recent years. There’s lots of big, well-resourced clubs in the league but I think all teams will be capable of picking up points off each other.” – Kingsley Westside Head Coach Ben Andrews
Players In: Sebastian Gomez, Ben Wyeth, Isaac Driessen, Jamie Gardiner, Jack Robinson
Players Out: Will Gallagher, Sam Mattock, Josh Kingston
Skipper for 2026: Robbie Linford with Neil Gillies & Nick Koffler vice captains will continue on their roles from last year. All three are experienced, senior players within the squad and we look forward to working closely with them for another season.
Young Player/Players to Watch: Ben Wyeth and Max Adamson - We are really looking forward to working with Ben for the upcoming season. He’s a very balanced footballer who will offer so much to different parts to our game. Max returns to Kingsley for a second season and if he replicates the second half of last season, he’ll be an important player and an exciting watch for our supporters.

2026 Night Series: Quarter Finals – Lost v Floreat Athena 0-3
It’s all change at MANDURAH CITY this season with Zac Headington stepping up as head coach, after the departure of John Baird and Pete Tayle to Armadale after four seasons in charge. They missed out on a play-off spot last season, finishing seventh, which is the first time in four seasons they hadn’t reached them. But the new coach has hit the ground running, winning their group in the night series, before losing to eventual winners Floreat Athena in the quarter finals. It’s a new look squad in 2026 with Joe O’Brien, Mitch Firth and Harry Collins returning to the club, and the likes of Josiah Godfrey, Charlie Breen, Sam Byrne and Harrison
Murray also joining. It’s a new era at the Dolphins, but will they sink or swim this season, we will have to wait and see.

Top Goalscorer: Gustavo Giron Marulanda 13
2026 Night Series; Second in Group C
MURDOCH UNIVERSITY MELVILLE just missed out on the promotion playoffs last season, and Marc Anthony will look for an improvement in 2026. He goes into his third season at the club, and he will look to improve on their defence this season, after conceding 46 goals last season, which was the most in the top ten. They never had any trouble at the other end scoring 50, the second best in the league, so he will hope they can get it right at both ends. He has added a few to the squad this season with Matt Warton, Sam Gallagher and Delano Adams to name a few, and with some of the younger players being given the opportunity this season, it looks bright for the club. But do they have the depth of squad to challenge?
“Preseason has been mixed. Some good performances, but some where we know we can be better. We are all looking forward to returning to playing home games at the newly revamped, Len Shearer, playing on grass. Also, excited about number and quality of young players coming through.” MUMFC coach Gavin Brown
Players In: Matty Worton, Sam Gallagher, Delano Adams, Duncan Lennon-Black,

Skipper for 2026: Eddie Wynne-Wilson, committed, very ambitious and humble. Will put his own preferences aside for the good of the team.
Young Player/Players to Watch: We several of the squad who won the u18 MSL1 league last year. Lochie and Charlie Neil (brothers), Daniel Delic and Reed Thompson. Marc, Danny and I are all committed to developing our own players and Marc has already given them a lot of game time in preseason and NS.

Assistant Coaches: Steve Flint and Brian McBeath
2025: Champions Division Two - Promoted
Goals scored: 59
Goals conceded: 31
Top Goalscorer: James Elkington-Soan 9
2026 Night Series: Second in Group A
QUINNS romped to the Division Two title last season, with Nick Jennings leading the club back to Division One in his first season at Stylish Park. The Jacks held off Cockburn City to seal the title, and they scored the highest number of goals in the league, bagging 59, with James Elkington-Soan leading the way. The club have had a big turnaround in the squad, with Jennings bringing in experienced players such as James Bosdet, Matt Henry and Joshua Allum, also some talented youngsters like Chad Samuels. It’s not been a good start to the season, missing out a place in the quarter-finals of the night series and knocked out of the cup in the opening round. But like all clubs who are promoted they will take time to settle, but they will be hard to beat and with Jennings in charge will cause teams a lot of problems.
“It’s going to be a super competitive Division One this year, all clubs have raised the levels with the quality of players that they have signed. I think it’s the strongest Division One for a number of years and we’re looking forward to the challenge.” Quinns coach Nick Jennings.

President: Mr Andrew Faragher
Coach: Marc Wingell
Assistant Coach: Jamie D’Arcy
2025: 8th
Goals scored: 33
Goals conceded: 37
Top Goalscorer: Kaleb Morrison 7
2026 Night Series: Third placed Playoff – Lost v Gwelup Croatia 1-2
SUBIACO struggled last season, and an eighth-place finish was lower than the season before, and they will look for an improvement as they look for a return to the NPL, where they last played in 2018. Marc Wingell goes into his fourth season at Rosalie Park, but he will look for more firepower after only scoring 33 goals last season, the least of the top eight. Kaleb Morrison led the way with seven goals, but he will need some help in 2026. They reached the semi-finals of the night series this season, eventually losing 2-4 to Inglewood United in the semi-final, so the signs look good, but do they have the squad to challenge, we will have to wait and see.

President: Mrs Alexandra Richie
Coach: Kris Donnell
Assistant Coach: Nigel Burke, Pascal Sedgwick and Davie Frew - Mark Reid (Director of Football)
2025: 2nd
Goals scored: 52
Goals conceded: 28
Top Goalscorer: Iljas Ahmedov 15
2026 Night Series: Quarter-Finals – lost v Gwelup Croatia (8-7 on pens)
It was a standout season for UWA NEDLANDS in 2025, Kris Donnell’s side finishing second, denied automatic promotion to the NPL on the final day, pipped by Dianella, before missing out in the playoffs. It was their highest position in the State League since they returned in 2012, and they were the top scoring in the league, scoring 52 goals, with Iljas Ahmedov bagging 15. The striker has moved on, but they have added some quality, with the likes of Dean Hurley, Jay Sheridan, Jake Sardelic and Giovanni Sores will strengthen the squad. After their success last season, they will go into the new season as the hunted, with other clubs looking to bring them down, but I’m sure Donnell will have his side well prepared and they will once again be in the mix.
“It’s going to be another very competitive league with a lot of teams pushing for promotion. We are excited with the squad we have and are looking forward to trying to better ourselves against this season after an incredible year last year.” UWA Nedland coach Kris Donnell.

ASHFIELD
Paintseal Arena, Ashfield
President: Mr Phil Kelly
Coach: Malcom Tshuma
Assistant Coach:
2025: 9th
Goals scored: 35
Goals conceded: 45
Top Goalscorer: Nathan Scully 10
2026 Night Series: Fourth in Group B
It was a disappointing season for ASHFIELD, only a good end to the season saw them move away from the relegation play-offs, with two wins in the final two games, which saw them move five points clear. James Sammut has stepped down as coach due to family commitments, and he has been replaced by former Balcatta Etna assistant coach Malcom Tshuma. One thing the new coach needs to change is their home form, after only winning two times at the Ashfield Arena last season. It will be a fifth season in Division Two for the club, and Tshuma has been busy in the transfer market, as he looks to bring success back to the club, bringing in 12 new players. They struggled in the night series, but won in the cup last week, and if they can gel quickly, they will be one to watch this season.
“I think we’ve had a solid preseason and I know the boys are raring to go. There are some really good teams in this division and for us it’s about being as consistent as possible with our performances. A new coach and new players mean we go into the season as a bit of an unknown quantity which is exciting.” Ashfield coach Malcom Tshuma.
Players In: Alex Pozhar, Michael Mwangiri, Lachlan Ryan, Ben Goddard, Angus Taylor, Ayoub Kireh, Preston Gilling, Kieran Ross, Daliso Mumbi, Jack Kiama, Mustafa Al Amin, Kian Durant
Players Out: Luca Macri, Conor McCann, Hanani Ndebele, Nathan Scully, Jared Flavel, Dejan Lewi, Ravi Singh, Charlie Watt
Skipper for 2026: Jake Melia - I coached a lot against Jake in youth football when he captained the Bayswater u20s team and worked with him in the 1st team during my time at Forrestfield. He is an incredible leader, with a good head on his shoulders and embodies everything about Ashfield. A true professional on and off the pitch and undoubtedly one of the best players in this league which is a bonus for us. Coming into the club this was one of my easier decisions.
Young Player/Players to Watch: Taboka Ndebele and Joe Jaine
BALGA
Princess Road Reserve, Balga
President: Mr Ken Shorto
Coach: Gerhard Janssen
Assistant Coaches: Assistant Dani Gros and Mirza Hodzic - Goalkeeper Coach Daniel Moyes - Team Manager Jan Jungstedt
2025: 5th
Goals scored: 40
Goals conceded: 37
Top Goalscorer: Jose Zuniga 7
2026 Night Series: Third in Group D
BALGA ended the season well in 2025, and with only one defeat in their last five games, pushed them close to the play-offs, but they missed out by two points, but the fifth-place finish was their highest position in Division Two since 2018. Head Coach Gerhard Janssen goes into his sixth season in charge at the Princess Road Reserve club, and he’s brought in a number of players, as they look to return to Division One after 12 years in Division Two. The likes of Christian Zuluaga, Javier Pineres and Nicolas Casiero, who last played for ASD Ferrandina 17890 in Serie D, have bolstered the squad, while they have retained a number of players from last season. Is this the year for promotion, only time will tell.
“We want to improve and become consistent in our performance! Many players can make the next step, because we kept the squad together and found players who will make us more competitive!
The league has 4 new teams and it will be interesting to see how the new teams adjust to Division 2 football. But in the end, we want to be promoted.” Balga coach Gerhard Janssen
Players In: Noah Boulaye, Ravi Singh, Christian Zuluaga, Javier Pineres, Lal Chung, Riley Chapman, Claudio Cruz, Dejan Maric, George Butler, Jake Mills, Nicolas Casiero
Players Out: Silver Kelder, Takumi Kambai, Galey Zangpo, Pema Dhenup, Michael Anokhin,
Skipper for 2026: Karl Maluga will continue as captain for 2026, six years with the club and leader on and off the field.
Young Player/Players to Watch: Bai Hamilton, Riley Chapman
CANNING CITY
Burrendah Reserve, Willetton
President: Mr Jeff Rowland
Coach: Lee Hayward
Assistant Coaches: Alpha Sheriff
2025: 6th
Goals scored: 45
Goals conceded: 42
Top Goalscorer: Tom Kinnane 11
2026 Night Series: Fourth in Group C
A good finish for Lee Hayward’s side in 2025, saw CANNING CITY finish sixth, which was their highest position in Division Two since relegation in 2017. They were hovering around the relegation places late in the season, but only two defeats in their last five games, including big wins in the last two games, including one at Champions Quinns, saw them finish the season on a high. They need to fix their defence, after conceding 42 goals, which was the most in the top seven teams, and there has been a big turnover of players at the club. The coach bringing in the likes of Boas Mtwale, Charlie Watt, Moses Macauley and Ishmael Greywood, which will strengthen the squad, but do they have the depth in the squad for a return to Division One, for the first time since 2017, only time will tell.
“We have a lot of new players come to the club and preseason has been about finding the right balance. We have had a bit of a mixed preseason in terms of results but I’m sure come round one the boys will be ready. I think we got the depth and the quality to push on again this year but we will need to make sure everyone is on the Sam page early as we need to get off to a quick start, with 8 of our 11 home games scheduled in the first 11 games.” Canning City coach Lee Hayward
Players In: Boas Mtwale (Wanneroo), Brian Mashingaidze, Charlie Watt (Ashfield), Dejan Lewis (Ashfield), Hanani Ndebele (Ashfield), Ishmael Greywood (Kelmscott), Joseph Juma (Morley), Luca Macri (Ashfield), Morgan Richards, Moses Macauley (Subiaco), Patrick Shortall (Swan), Reuben Reddy (Cockburn) Sahr Musa, Seydou Bayal (France), Will Roscoe
Players Out: Mason Langham (Curtin), Alex Guzman (Cockburn), Bill Orr (Fremantle) Chris Thackeray (Rockingham), Ethan Grant (Inglewood) Ayden Dragun (North Beach), Mustefa Al Asadi (Ashfield), Alfie Moore (UWA), Shale Moothen (Travelling), Owen Yamunga (Balcatta), Eraste Vyamunga (Long Term Injury), Mitchell Smith, Will Higginson
Skipper for 2026: Jerome West, one of our vice captains over the best 2 seasons, Jerome will step up for 2026 and be supported by Freeman Nyatsambo and Kevin Beattie. Jerome is a natural leader on the field and leads by example.
Young Player/Players to Watch: Seydou Bayal and Hanani Ndebele are two very quick and direct forward players. Hanani was one of the top scorers in Division Two prior to getting injured in 2024 and we know exactly what he has to offer. Seydou brings directness and an eye for goal
CARRAMAR SHAMROCK ROVERS
Grandis Park, Banksia Grove
President: Mr Marty Burke
Coach: Adam Walsh
Assistant Coach: Leigh Doherty
2025: 7th
Goals scored: 32
Goals conceded: 38
Top Goalscorer: Cameron Hendry-Munford 6
2026 Night Series: Fourth in Group F
It was a difficult season for CARRAMAR SHAMROCK ROVERS, especially after a change of coach early on, with Mike Hartley stepping down. But they managed to finish seventh, which was an improvement on 2024, but one win in the final seven games saw their season slip away from the playoff spots, which was a disappointment. Adam Walsh takes over from Ronnie Martin as head coach this season, with Martin taking a back seat at Grandis Park. They have brought in some experienced players this season, with Gareth Hamilton and Callum Traynor joining, and with skipper Kieran Harrison and some exciting youngsters in the squad, they will be looking to push up the table, and if they click, they will cause teams problems.
“We always look to improve on the previous year, last year we finished seventh so that was a massive improvement from the season before. This year is no different we look to hopefully challenge the teams around us and make it a competitive season.” Carramar Shamrock Rovers coach Adam Walsh
Players In: Gareth Hamilton, Cameron Dalling, Louis Cheetham Callum Traynor.
Players Out: Alan Reidy, Ethan Gravitt
Skipper for 2026: Kieran Harrison has done a fantastic job over the years and is a great leader amongst the player group.
Young Player/Players to Watch: Keane Embelton is an exciting young player but just had an operation, due to having surgery he will miss preseason. We have a young reserve side coming through with a lot of potential to be first team players in the coming years
EAST PERTH
Hudson Park, Girrawheen
President: Mr Patrick Dunne
Coach: Martin Sullivan
Assistant Coaches: Michael Yarker, Andy Keogh and Adam Capper
2025: 3rd
Goals scored: 44
Goals conceded: 27
Top Goalscorer - Ryan McCready 13
2026 Night Series: Third in Group F
It was a case of déjà vu last season for EAST PERTH, finishing third and taking their place in the play-offs, but once again they couldn’t gain promotion. The Hudson Park club have only been in the State League for two seasons, but a loss to Cockburn City in the semi-final condemned them to another season in Division Two. They will have a new head coach in the dugout next season, with Colm Costello stepping down after four seasons at the helm, with Sully Sullivan taking over the reins in 2026. The club have kept most of last season, with Ryan McCready leading the way in front of goal, while new signings Ceilum Maher, Ciaran Maguire, Eoghan Patterson will strengthen their squad. Will it be third time lucky for the club, only time will tell.
“The blueprint is already there from the last two seasons. We aren't reinventing the wheel—we’re just refining it to make sure we’re in that lead group come end of the season.” East Perth coach Martin Sullivan
Players In: Ciaran Maguire, Eoghan Patterson, Ceilum Maher
Players Out: David Brooks (returned to Ireland)
Skipper for 2026: Chris Smith - Chris is a proper leader on and off the pitch. He has been excellent in my time at the club and drove the team in many games with his attitude intensity and overall play.
Young Player/Players to Watch: We have a few good young lads at the club the like of Jayden Mckenna, Jamie Perry, Azarl Tanveer will be in for a big season.
FORRESTFIELD UNITED
LuxWin Stadium, Hartfield Park, Forrestfield
President: Mr Paul Mansfield
Coach: Daryl Platten
Assistant Coaches: Byran Wood and Niall Hughes
2025: 4th
Goals scored: 41
Goals conceded: 34
Top Goalscorer: Austin Reynolds 13
2026 Night Series: Third in Group A
It was a successful season for FORRESTFIELD UNITED, after a number of seasons struggling since relegation from the Premier League in 2018. A fourth placed finish was the best in Division Two since they won the title in 2015, and giving them a spot in the playoffs. Unfortunately, they missed out on promotion, edged out by Kalamunda City in the semi-finals, but coach Daryl Platten would have been pleased how the season went. He is expecting another tough season, but he has kept most of their squad from last season, a squad with some talented youngsters, and with the experienced of skipper Matt Evans, Nathan Costello and Rhys Loxley, there could be another strong showing from the club in 2026.
“We’re really looking forward to the season, Division Two is going to be a very tough competitive league this year. Like I said last season, as long as we play to our potential and compete in every game and get consistent performances, we should have a successful 2026.” Forrestfield United coach Daryl Platten
Players In: Davin Park, Anton Gaurino, Tristan Samson, Abdalla Dofash, Luke Ross, Nathan Costello
Players Out: Rene Kisesa
Skipper for 2026: Matt Evans - Matt came to the club last year and during a difficult period at the start of the season galvanised the squad. He's great with the younger lads and is always giving 150%
Young Player/Players to Watch: Lots - Austin Reynolds again, really excited to see what Abdalla Dofash can bring to the table he's been excellent in training. Other youngsters to keep an eye out for mare our new signings Tristan Samson, Davin Park and Anto Gaurino. Then lots of young talent coming through Luke Cooper Holland, Zach Hogg, Raf Mahoney. I could keep going as there is so much talent coming through.
GOSNELLS CITY
Walter Padbury Reserve, Thornlie
President: Mr Ozzie Pereira
Coach: Peter Allen
Assistant Coach: Alan Dunlop
2025: Division One 12th - Relegated
Goals scored: 29
Goals conceded: 49
Top Goalscorer: Aaron Coslani and Darren Francis 3
2026 Night Series: Third in Group B
The three-year stay in Division One came to an end for GOSNELLS CITY last season, the Walter Padbury Reserve club finished bottom, and were relegated. They struggled to find consistency, and after a mid-season player exodus coach Peter Allan turned to his youngsters, and they gave a good account of themselves, but couldn’t stop them going down. The club have kept faith with Allen and his assistant Alan Dunlop, and the return of Tony Chandler, who missed lot of training last year with working away and niggling injures, is back and is looking like his old self, which is a huge plus, while the experienced defender Aaron Coslani will take the armband. They had a positive night series, and gave the young squad players some much needed experience, and they will look to consolidate this season.
It was a tough year last year but myself and Alan have dusted ourselves down and got to work almost immediately. A big overhaul was needed and we wanted to bring in fresh young talent with a mix of experience, the aim is simple to be competitive team and bring smiles to the Gozzy faithful with a team that makes them proud, sounds boring but it’s one game at time.” Gosnells City Head Coach Peter Allen
Players In: Liam Cowie, Abdul Dofash, Andrew Craggs, Max Adlam, Ahmet Atak, Nick Gangemi
Players Out: Seb Blomquist, Duncan Lennon-Black, Will Jacobs, Tom Kennedy
Skipper for 2026: Aaron Coslani – He has been at club many years and great role model to the young players fitness fanatic and ultimate professional
Young Player/Players to Watch: Sean Pritchard – He’s only just turned 20 got lot of first team games under his belt last year I think this year he will break out and become a star.
KALAMUNDA CITY
Maida Vale Recreation Reserve, Maida Vale
President: Mr. David Saunders
Coaches: Coaches: Kyle Robertson and Kristian Usedo
Assistant Coach: Phil Papakostas
2025: Division One 11th – Relegated in Playoff’s
Goals scored: 23
Goals conceded: 40
Top Goalscorer: Andrea Erbetta 8
2026 Night Series: Fourth in Group E
It was a season to forget for KALAMUNDA CITY, the club were promoted to Division One in 2025, but after only one win in the final eight games, saw them slide down the table and finished in the relegation playoff’s and were beaten 2-3 by Morley, and relegated. They struggled in front of goal last season, only scoring 23 goals, which was the second worst in the league, so they need to fix that ahead of 2026, The club will be looking for a quick return and joint coaches Kyle Robertson and Kristian Usedo have brought in a number of players, the likes of Angel Andres, Thang Sangpichung, Rain Blauberg and Alex Coelho, to name a few. Their passionate supporters will be looking for improvement, and if they can sort things out in front of goal, they will in the mix.
“While we have lost some strong players, the squad has been strengthened across all areas. The new additions bring hunger, balance, and quality to what was already a solid core. Relegation last season felt harsh, but it has added determination across the group. Confidence is high, and we are aiming to deliver a strong, competitive season with clear ambition to push for promotion,” Kalamunda City coach Kyle Robertson
Players In: Alexandre Coelho, Lorran Francisco De Almeida, Isaac Spencer, Joshua Spencer Ali Reza, Pablo Vargas, Rain Blauberg, Omid Alizada, Thang Sangpichung, Angel Andres, Nik Zmukic
Players Out: Ignacio David Ramella Gomez, Cristian Zuluaga, Jack Morgan, Farruh Mavlonov, Roman Gajardo, Carl Dias, Sean Palethorpe, Gustavo Bustamante Cal, Abdirahmaan Warsame
Skipper for 2026: Gaston Bazet- remains club captain for the 2026 season. He has worked extremely hard throughout his rehabilitation and continues to be a crucial leader within the squad. Rama served as stand-in captain at the end of last season and performed the role strongly. He is currently recovering from injury but is hopeful to return early in the campaign. Until either Gaston or Rama return, Nico Roca will wear the armband. His consistency, professionalism, and standards make him a natural fit to lead.
Young Player/Players to Watch: Isaac Spencer – A high-potential attacking player with pace, creativity, and intelligence. Expected to push strongly for senior minutes this season. Thang Sangpichung – Direct, confident, and already producing at State League level. A dangerous and exciting attacking option.
MORLEY-WINDMILLS

2025: 3rd Amateur Premier Division – Promoted in Playoffs

Goals conceded: 36
Top Goalscorer: John Monterosso 15
2026 Night Series: Second in Group E
MORLEY-WINDMILLS return to the State League for the first time since relegation in 2023, with John O’Reilly leading the Wotton Park club back up in his second season at the club, after just missing out in 2024. A remarkable win against Kalamunda in the playoff final, coming from two goals down to win 3-2, secured their place, after finishing third In the Amateur Premier Division last season. The coach has worked hard to strength the squad adding the likes of Luke Martino, Daniel Dols and Luke Salmon, and after a solid night series and a win on the cup, has seen them start the season well. The club won the Premier League title in 1961 and 1973, and the club have started their return and will be one of the clubs in the mix.
“Bringing Morley back to the State League has been a very proud moment in my football career. Now we are back, the club and myself want to be competitive and pushing the SL2 teams that have been strong over the last few years. Players Out: Adam Tong, Mehdi Rabei (both retired), Oliver Simpson, John Montorosso, Stephen Kirk, Richard Lee, Nick Stone (But remains as GK coach)
Skipper for 2026: TBC
Young Player/Players to Watch: TBC
NORTH BEACH
Charles Riley Reserve, North Beach
President: Simon Collins
Coach: Nick Di Carlo
Assistant Coach: Michael Rea
2025: 2nd Amateur Premier Division – Promoted in Playoffs
Goals scored: 80
Goals conceded: 37
Top Goalscorer: Alexander Kretowicz 38
2026 Night Series: Fourth in Group D
It’s a new era for NORTH BEACH, gaining promotion to the State League for the first time in their history after a win against Swan United in the promotion/relegation playoff last season. They finished second in the Amateur Premier Division last season with Alex Kretowicz winning the golden boot, scoring 38 goals, and he will be vital for them this season. They missed out in the night series, and exited the cup early, but the club have worked extremely hard on and off the park to get ready for the season and coach Nick De Carlo has added a number of players, with Jack Lavis, Jayden Rowles and Ayden Dragun, to name a few. But the loss of the experienced Joshua Marocchi, who injured his knee playing for the Amateur State squad last season, is a huge blow, but they are ready to hit the ground running, and we wish them all the best.
“2026 brings an exciting new chapter for our club after the excitement of promotion last season. We are entering uncharted territory in many ways, but have managed to keep our core playing group that brought success last season, with the addition of real quality, experienced players at this level of competition, which has added depth to our squad to truly compete in this league and have success in 2026. I have Michael (Rea) coaching with myself again, which has been a welcomed boost as we work really well together and share the same vision for this club and how we want to go about in week in week out. Looking forward to the challenge ahead.” North Beach Head Coach Nick De Carlo
Players In: Jack Lavis, Jamie McLeod, Peter Gama, Ayden Dragun, Nathan McManus, Mark Bailey Jayden Rowles, Dylan Lewis, Galey Zangpo
Players Out: Joshua Marocchi (ACL injury with WA state team in Malaysia), Lukas De Lima
Skipper for 2026: Luke Wearing - Luke was our captain in our promotion winning season of 2025, playing a pivotal role in leading the team into the State League. He epitomises the culture and competitiveness our club strives for with his efforts on the pitch, having joined the club when we were playing Amateur Division One football.
Young Player/Players to Watch: Jamie McLeod and Thomas Hart. Jamie has joined us from Kingsley Westside. Having developed there for many years, Jamie has shown he is ready to break through into regular first team football and has the creative qualities needed to break open games. Thomas Hart was a breakthrough player at our club last season, transitioning into the first team mid-season, and earnt himself a spot in the Amateur State team that travelled to Malaysia. Thomas provides genuine attacking threat and will thrive in state league competition.
ROCKINGHAM CITY
Lark Hill Sportsplex, Port Kennedy
President: Mr Fraser Marr
Coach: Matthew Brook
Assistant:
2025: 10th
Goals scored: 31
Goals conceded: 44
Top Goalscorer: Dylan Rogers 6
2026 Night Series: Quarter-Final – lost v Subiaco 3-4 on pens
It looked like ROCKINGHAM CITY were on the way down last season, but Matthew Brook led them just clear of the relegation spots and he will look for an improvement in 2026, especially on the road where they only won one game. The club is growing off the pitch and Brook will look to turn their fortunes around on it, and has worked hard to strengthen the squad in preseason, with the likes of Chris Thackray, Robbie Galvin and Graham Tough joining the club. It’s been a fall from grace for the club, who were in the NPL in 2021, but they had a positive night series topping their group, before losing to Subiaco on penalties in the quarter final, and progressing in the cup last week. So, the signs are good, but do they have the depth in the squad to challenge, only time will tell.
“I feel like this is the most open Division 2 has been for a long while. Many teams will feel like they have chance of doing well this year. I think it will come down to teams being consistent and being able to put a run of wins together. We are hoping to consolidate on last season and see what we are capable of.” Rockingham City coach Matthew Brook
Players In: Chris Thackray, Brian Patterson, Joe Moss, Graham Tough, Will Hayes, Tyler McCann, Robbie Galvin, Tom Kennedy, Mitch Foley, Raph Gomba, Celeston Fuller, Alfie Moore
Players Out: N/A
Skipper for 2026: Harry Geeves. Leads through action and is ready to step up.
Young Player/Players to Watch: Raph Gomba. A handful for any defence with his ability on the ball and explosiveness, will look to be productive and have a breakout year.
WEMBLEY DOWNS
Club President – Mr. David Bujok
Coach Luke Thompson
Assistant Coaches for 2026 - Kim Sue and Paul Valerius
2025: 8th
Goals scored: 43
Goals conceded: 61
Top Goalscorer: Josh Chalmers 12
2026 Night Series: Fourth Group A
It was year of consolidation for WEMBLEY DOWNS last season, the club playing in the State League first the first time and new coach Luke Thompson guided the Butlers Reserve club to an eight-placed finish. They will have to tighten up at the back this season, after conceding 61 goals in 2025, the most in the league, but the coach has acted quickly to rectify that by adding Alex Galipo, Nick Burmej, Josh Waldock and Salman Nikakhter to bolster the defence. The retirement of long-time captain Jack Mellor will be a huge blow, but Josh Chalmers is a great replacement. They will be hoping not to have the second-year blues in 2026, but the club are on the up and they will be hard to beat, but do they have the depth, only time will tell.
“I feel like this is the most open Division 2 has been for a long while. Many teams will feel like they have chance of doing well this year. I think it will come down to teams being consistent and being able to put a run of wins together. We are hoping to consolidate on last season and see what we are capable of.” Wembley Downs coach Luke Thompson
Players In: Allister Gomes, Nicholas Burmej, Ryuya Kuroyanagi, Josh Waldock, Alex Galipo, Billy Templeton-Knight, Reece Johnston, Louis Carlish, Toby Robertson and Salman Nikhater (permanently after playing on loan for half of last season)
Players Out: Jack Mellor (retired), Tom Bish (retired), Cameron Chambers, Ale Morabito (retired), Alex Christodoulakis (Dianella), Ciaran Macquillan
Skipper for 2026: for 2026: Josh Chalmers – After having Jack Mellor lead the club for so long, it was important to keep someone who knows all about the club and what it means for play for WDSC. Josh was the logical choice as he is greatly respected by the group and bleeds Red and White.
Young player/players to watch in 2026: Ryuya Kuroyanagi has joined us from Japan, having played in Queensland as well before this, he knows what Australian Football is all about, he is a very talented technical player and his quality was evident from the first time he hit the training track with us.
